Status: Distributed.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me with this book, and for everyone who has supported me in doing it.
200-7. The year where the culmination of twelve years of schooling which have finally been given relevance. Okay, maybe not the years before Grade 5, but you get the idea. So, in this “year that matters most”, particularly relative to our future working lives, there should be no better way to remember it than in a publication. Of course, the friendships and memories we will garner from this period, where we will be the most mature school age student possible, will also promote the sense of memory we are trying to achieve.

Log
- 02/12/06 WordPress page set up!
- 02/02/07 Permission granted from VPe, project to launch.
- 06/03/07 Committee names taken!
- 28/03/07 First Meeting – Rockstar Memoirs came with samples, ideas taken. Decided to have full-blown profiles, questions for these profiles needed. Probably about six profiles per page, given the size of the school. Also style of cover needs to be discussed in next meeting: whether it is formal, casual, etc. Collages need to be peddled, and ideas of articles need to be made, for page allocation. Some work still to do!
- 28/03/07 Second Meeting – Discussed Profile Questions, Awards and Polls, Front Cover style, and Articles. Need inspiration for editorial. Good to see some ideas flowing, but it will be time to get some real work done on the yearbook, soon.
- 14/06/07 Yesterday I sent an email to RSc asking if he could do the Yearbook page. And well, he did it and got back to me today. So, now for the next “phase” in yearbook production. This week was Mid Year exams, so now that is over, time for a little extra stuff.
- 22/06/07 Received a quotation today from Rockstar Memoirs. May have to discuss various options.
- 29/06/07 Last day of Term 2. Started making master page of profile. Used Dani’s as the dummy profile. Happy Birthday, Dani.
- 02/07/07 Finished master page of profile. Final ‘product’ shown in profileprogress2.jpg. Used Li, Maeyean, Dani and Kelvin as dummy photos.
- 06/07/07 Ran to The Glen, just as the rain clouds were blowing in, to give Sarah Chan formal photos just to do the Year 12 Formal collage. It took me 25 minutes to get to Rip It Up and back, which is a fair bit faster than just fast-walking. When I got home, the rain picked up and I made it home, without getting too wet. (Sorry I just had to put this into the log.)
- 17/07/07 At Year level assembly, told students that if we don’t have 250 profile submissions in two weeks time, there will be no yearbook. The current count is about 120.
- 28/07/07 Just did a recount of the number of profile submissions. Looks like there’s 190. My enthusiasm to do the yearbook has been somewhat reignited and I will press on to finish the yearbook in coming weeks.
- 29/07/07 Forced myself to finish laying out ID photos and people’s names. Next step is to input everyone’s data. Will take longer than two days.
- 05/08/07 Whilst inputting people’s custom profile data, I stumbled across my first mistake. I forgot someone. So instead of going through the process of checking every single person, I decided to wipe everything that I have done, and start again. Sigh.
- 06/08/07 Began writing the Yearbook massive-article with Marie G, Tess W and Bharat R. There will be one massive article at the start, divided constantly into sub-headings. It should consume about 5-10 pages. That means another ~10 pages of collages, 33 pages of profiles, and the last probably ~30 pages will be lined for your best friends. There is about one more month before the yearbook needs to be finished. Oh no!
- 10/08/07 Gone through about 100 people’s profiles. About 30 blanks so far. It is a little tedious, but lightened by some good responses.
- 24/08/07 Basically finished the profiles. I have a few people left. Zhang’s and Zhao. There is literally 16 days left till I need to finish it. It will be one crazy Sunday in two weeks time. I may upload a passworded preview soon. Fixed up the rest of this page, and the details of the yearbook.
- 31/08/07 Ten days (basically nine days) now left. Pretty hectic stuff. Had a meeting today to decide the rest of various things, like awards winners. Took a committee photo. The camera was on burst, so the photos came out shit. Order forms came out today. Need to get back to work!
- 01/09/07 Nine days to go. Happy Birthday Jen. Did heaps of things today, allocated pages, slapped on articles, started to do the committee page. Inserted Cowes Camp year level photo. It looks manageable.
- 02/09/07 Went to school today to do panorama shots. Camera needs to be returned to Phillip tomorrow, so I needed to go today. I shall look for a camera extension, though. Going to do awards page today.
- 04/09/07 Did lookalikes page yesterday. Looks pretty bland, needs a short blurb I think. Doing awards page now (18:28), it’s looking a bit better. Got article from Mr Schiller Today. Later in the night at the moment. Done Awards page and the Principal’s and Mr Penso’s message page. Also tried to write MY article. Sorted through the photos I thought I would use for the Memories page. Slowly, the yearbook is coming together.
- 07/09/07 Had a pretty rough past few days. Returned the magazine camera yesterday, on amorous terms with Mrs Erickson (sp.). Got about 15 more tough hours of work on this, and it’s set. I honestly cannot wait till it is over.
- 08/09/07 Did two of the three memories pages today, just got to sort out one more page. I’m pretty emotionally drained and everything right now, gosh.
- 09/09/07 The Yearbook is ALMOST FINISHED! About 3 pages to go (1 to format, 1 to get from Michelle L, and 1 for just the odds and ends of things.. so that’s 2 full pages). I’m quite happy with the result so far, I’m looking forward to seeing it published!!
- 10/09/07 Put the finishing touches on the Yearbook today. Finished uploading at 23:09:13. Took 1:17:42 to upload (yes, my upload is slow). I am quite pleased with the result; if only I could do every page in PHOTOSHOP! Also went to school (at lunchtime), and tried to work out some payment detail miscellany with Mr Penso. I have absolute
- 11/09/07 Discovered that about half the cohort had placed an order for the Yearbook. How shameful of people. They are going to miss out, sadly.
- 12/09/07 Placed an order of 290 books, for $31 per book. Pretty sweet deal! I now await the delivery of my little masterpiece…!!
- 17/09/07 Wow. The end of the year sure is fast approaching. Today I gave the okay for the final proof so that PRINTING COULD BEGIN. I made minor alterations to pages 3 and 11. I can’t wait for the delivery of the Yearbooks!
- 10/10/07 Yearbooks were MEANT to arrive today, but they didn’t. However, Rockstar Memoirs said they have been dispatched, as he waved goodbye to them today. Anyway, if all good things happen on Michelle L’s birthday, then so be IT!
- 11/10/07 Yearbooks arrived today! I’m thrilled with the result, and I’m sure it will be a lasting memento for all of Glen Waverley Secondary College’s Class of 2007. Thank you to everyone who has supported me through the year, I have thoroughly appreciated it. In particular, I would like to thank Michelle L, for without her, I don’t think I would ever have been directed to the joys of being a community member and contributing to a larger group of people. I hope you all enjoy it and treasure it!
- 12/10/07 The wrapup of the Yearbook07 can be found, here. There is still the Yearbook DVD to be done!
- 20/12/07 At last, the Yearbook DVD has been finished, and about 120 copies were burned. A big effort, particularly AFTER exams, nevertheless it was once again, worthwhile. Thanks to Andrew G for editing all the video. I hope the Yearbook and its accompanying DVD last well into the future, and provide many memories of our happiest days in high school.

AWESOME WORK MATT. Your dedication is much appreciated by this lonesome year 12. These memories will keep me company when I’m in my retirement home, rocking slowly, reminiscing about the glory days.
I think I speak on behalf of the year level when I say “Thnks Matt fr th mmrs.” I think its been pretty huge.

Wow David. Hahaha. I still remember reading your comment. I thought something like, “I haven’t even started….. and there’s a whole year to go before this project will even be finished.”
I got my mum to print me a copy of Yearbook today!
Yeah…..time really flies. Embrace every last day!
